Abstract

The cocoon care of Pardosa hortensis (Lycosidae) was investigated. A transmission of substances, from the mother to the spiderlings, after cocoon production, was found. Following radioactive leukine or tritium ingestion by the mother, C14 and H3 were found mainly incorporated in the silk layer and in the spiderling's body respectively, of substituted cocoons taken from non-radioactive mothers.
