ABSTRACT
By carefully controlled measurement, a growth curve for Rhizocarpon geographicum is constructed for the Tunsbergdal valley. It is shown that this curve is very closely described by an exponential function, which is used for predicting the ages of a series of recessional moraines. It is suggested that an exponential form may be generally applicable to the phase of decelerating growth in lichens.
