Abstract
In our last issue Mr. Peter C. Reti raised the question of religious precept and religious practice, pointing to the conflict inherent in the Jewish position in modern society of which the Jew considers himself to be an integal part. (The Image in the Mirror. Autumn 1963). Mr. Ainsztein, in the following contribution, puts the same question in a rather different context—is the Israeli nation to become an open society or will it revert to a synagogal sect?
