Aggression: Some Thoughts on Its Expression and Therapeutic Meaning

Pages 5-8 | Published online: 16 Jul 2010

Abstract

Editorial comment: This essay briefly discusses childhood aggression. In particular, it reflects some personal thoughts on the following questions: (a) What is aggression? (b) How is aggression experienced by children? (c) What seem to be less useful ways of responding to aggression? and (d) What might help in responding to aggression? It closes with a plea that each of us examine our attitudes and values toward teaching, as well as our assumptions regarding the therapeutic management of aggression.
