On the Lubrication Mechanism of Substances with Colloidal Additives

Pages 405-410 | Published online: 25 Mar 2008

Abstract

The results of theoretical and experimental investigations of transfer layer formation are discussed for the case of lubricated rubbing. A possibility is considered for surface film development due to the colloidal particle generation as a result of contact surface dispersion, or when such particles are introduced into the bulk lubricant. Information on the lubricant doped with colloidal metal is presented.
