Abstract

This essay deals with two themes developed in the Eskandar-nāma: Alexander disguised as a messenger and the ungrateful lady. Focus is on the genesis and evolution of these themes. The purpose of the study is to highlight that the Alexander's image in this romance is a product of the combination of some motifs that originated from the Pseudo-Callisthenes and others that originated in the stories relating to Iranian kings.
