The CEOS Working Group on Calibration and Validation: Plans and Perspectives

Formé en 1984, le Comité sur les satellites d'observation de la Terre (CEOS) regroupe à l'heure actuelle toutes les agences civiles du monde responsables pour les programmes satellitaires d'observation de la Terre de même que des regroupements internationaux d'utilisateurs. Le Comité CEOS compte deux groupes de travail, le Groupe de travail sur les systèmes d'information et de services (WGISS) et le Groupe de travail sur l'étalonnage et l'homologation (WGCV). En collaboration avec le Groupe international des organismes de financement pour la recherche sur le changement à l'échelle du globe (IGFA). le CEOS a également initié le développement de la Stratégie intégrée d'observation à l'échelle du globe. Le WGCV fournit un forum pour l'échange d'information sur l'étalonnage et la validation des données, la coordination et la mise en place d'activités de coopération. Cet article décrit les activités du WGCV et le contexte de travail.

SUMMARY

Formed in 1984, the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) membership now includes all the world's civil agencies responsible for Earth observation satellite programmes along with international user organisations. The CEOS has two working groups, the Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS), and the Working Group on Calibration and Validation (WGCV). In conjunction with the International Group of Funding Agencies for global change research (IGFA) CEOS has also begun development of the Integrated Global Observing Strategy. The WGCV provides a forum for calibration and validation information exchange, co-ordination and cooperative activities. This paper describes the WGCV's activities and the context in which the work is performed.
