Abstract
Spot blotch, caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana, was detected for the first time in natural stands of wild barley (Hordeum murinum) in Turkey. Lesions were observed on foliage and roots of plants. The pathogen was isolated from diseased tissues. Pathogenicity was confirmed on leaves and roots of H. murinum under a controlled environment, and the pathogen was recovered from lesions on inoculated plants. This record is of significance in the search for natural sources of resistance to a disease that causes widespread losses to cultivated barley.
