A Perspective on the Dibb Review

Abstract

The Dibb Review has generated widespread public interest and media comment. There is a consensus that the review is a sound document making a major contribution to informed public discussion of defence issues. The Review is of particular interest to the Centre as an organisation aware of the increasing economic and strategic importance to Australia of our surrounding offshore areas. Captain Oxenbold's paper provides a naval perspective of the review and highlights some of the ongoing problems it presents for Australian defence planners.
