Abstract
The Law of the Sea is becoming increasingly important in maritime affairs and has featured in several papers published in Maritime Studies. The following article gives a general account of the major issues and the key provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). It has been reprinted from the Issue Based Indian Ocean Network Newsletter No.9.
