Reform of the Waterfront: Where to next?

(MP)

Abstract

One thing that must be remembered at all times when reviewing Australia’s waterfront reform performance is that Australia is a distant trading nation dependant on water transport to get its exports to its markets.

Australia’s water transport performance in shipping and on shore must therefore be at the world’s best standards. Anything else automatically places us at a competitive disadvantage. For a competitive advantage we have to be ahead of the rest of the world.
