Abstract
The following two articles conclude a three-part Leisure Today feature on the role of parks and recreation professionals in promoting the physical activity objectives of the 1996 Surgeon General's report on physical activity and health. In the January issue, after an introduction by feature editor Janet S. Hodges, Karla A. Henderson discussed ways to overcome constraints to the participation of people with disabilities in community recreation. Kimberly D. Pearce then addressed the issue of providing physical activity opportunities to a racially and ethnically diverse population. In the February issue, Wendy Z. Hultsman discussed ways for recreation professionals to increase the physical activity of youths and adolescents. Shirley Harper then discussed the benefits of developing and implementing an intergenerational activity program.
