Abstract

Research in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields was among the first to involve undergraduates in research (UGR). But scholars in all areas, including those of the former National Association for Sport and Physical Education Academies, are being encouraged to engage in UGR. But if you have never included undergraduate students in research endeavors before, how does one go about doing that? What kind of approaches can be used in UGR? How does one get started? What challenges can be expected? Can faculty expect to get anything out of it? At the All-Academy Symposium at the 2013 AAHPERD National Convention in Charlotte, NC, scholars from five different institutions described how they involve undergraduates in research.
