Parallel Process in Writing and Choreography

Editor: Ferman Konukman

Abstract

Writing and choreography have more in common than some might think. This article describes a sequence of steps that asks students to take a similar approach to both a five-minute group dance piece based on individual improvisations, and a five-page paper comparing two choreographers. The steps included in this sequence are: improvise, organize, get feedback, edit and refine.
