Abstract

The nonlinear equations encountered in steady state and transient analysis of power systems are often linearized for use in iterative methods or small change sensitivity studies such as dynamic stability. In this work, the standard constant power constraints are linearized and represented as active linear DC electronic circuits. The model is an exact small signal representation and maintains the fundamental voltage/current variables in the original nonlinear circuit model. The circuits can be reduced using standard Norton/Thevenin equivalent techniques.
