Abstract
A closed-form, analytic solution for the current and torque waveform of a three-phase induction motor, supplied with a multiple phase-shifted voltage-source inverter system is described. Motor performance, such as the torque ripple factor and the peak stator current ratio, is calculated for the inverter output voltage waveforms with six to fourty-eight steps. These results give a guideline for the design of multiple-inverter systems. A comparison between motor performance of multistepped voltage-fed and PWM voltage-fed designs is also made.
