ABOUT THE DESIGN OF INDUCTION MOTORS USING VOLTAGE DRIVEN FINITE ELEMENT TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT

The paper describes a method for the analysis of induction motors. Such an approach is based on the use of Finite Element Method for simulating no-load and locked rotor tests and for deducing the equivalent circuit parameters. A voltage driven formulation is introduced in the short circuit test where rotor currents are unknown. The procedure is applied to a four pole induction motor. The comparison between computed and experimental results is satisfactory.
