Dielectric Response of PLZT 9.5/65/35 Relaxor Under Hydrostatic Pressure

Abstract

The effect of hydrostatic pressure on the dielectric response of PLZT 9.5/65/35 relaxor was studied on cooling the samples from temperatures higher than Tε′max to avoid the influence of spontaneous aging. The dielectric anomaly, characteristic of classical relaxor, was found to be suppressed and shifted downwards at elevated pressures. The pressure coefficient dTε′max/dp = −(20.4 ± 0.9)K/GPa is considerably smaller than that reported for PLZT 6/65/35 and PLZT 12/40/60, which exhibit weak relaxor behavior and spontaneous transition to the ferroelectric state.
