Abstract

In order to increase the beam width of high-frequency underwater transducer, ellipsoidal cap and spherical cap transducer based on 1–3 piezocomposite were designed and fabricated. Finite element simulation was used to analyze transmitting voltage response level and beam directivity curve of the transducer. The transducer was fabricated by the curved 1–3 piezoelectric composite. Compared with spherical cap transducer, the elliptical spherical cap transducer has the advantage of wide beam opening angle and relatively smooth directivity curve. Both simulation and experiment results showed the potential of a broad covered area of the composite transducer in underwater environment.
