Electronic spectrum of Cr³⁺ ions doped in lithium rubidium sulphate

Abstract

Chromium doped single crystals of lithium rubidium sulphate are grown by slow evaporation technic. The optical Spectrum in UV-VIS region is recorded on PERKIN ELMER spectrophotometer. The IR spectrum is recorded on Pye Unicam IR spectrophotometer. The UV spectrum is characteristic of cr³⁺ ion in trigonal (C_3v) symmetry. The IR spectrum is characteristic of so₄ ^2- in C_2v symmetry.
