Abstract
Pure (LG), 0.5 wt% (LG1) and 1 wt% (LG2) Lanthanum doped lead germanate single crystals were grown by controlled cooling of the melt, incorporating crucible rotation during growth. Lattice parameters for LG, LG1 and LG2 were calculated. Surface analysis of LG, LG1 and LG2 by SEM revealed a gradual change in the growth habit due to doping. The possible mechanism for growth modification is discussed.
