Abstract

Guanosine and 2′-deoxyguanosine have been converted into the corresponding N-2-methyl and N-2-ethyl derivatives in a simple, three-step procedure by N-5-alkylation of N-4-desmethylwyosines (4,5) and subsequent deprotection with N-bromosuccinimide.
