Abstract

2-(4-Pyridyl)ethyl is a new protecting group for the internucleotidic bonds in the synthesis of deoxyribooligonucleotides by the phosphoramidite approach. This group is stable to alkali and acid conditions, and can be removed easily by two step procedures under mild conditions. The synthesis of deoxyribo-oligonucleotides by using phosphoramidite units containing 2-(4-pyridyl)ethyl group is also described.
