Acknowledgements

Glen T. Hanson, who was working at the G.S. Lewis East Early Archaic site in the central Savannah River basin about the same time I was digging the Rucker’s Bottom site in the upper Savannah, helped shape the band macroband model, and was largely responsible for introducing the idea of a winter base camp seasonal component to the model. He was a good friend and colleague, and left us far too early. To the many colleagues old, young, and passed on, who continue to inspire, my sincere thanks.
