1Stolorow's mode of “twinship” differs dramatically from Kohut's idea of inborn longings for “twinship.” Stolorow's mode is essentially described as an ontologically arrived at “twinship function” that ascribes special “authenticity” to the traumatized, making them something of an elite class distinguished from so-called non-traumatized “normals” (Ringstrom, 2010a).
