The Case of Luisa

Pages 304-313 | Published online: 02 Jul 2009

Abstract

This is an account of the psychoanalytic treatment of an adolescent girl referred with depression, severe separation anxieties, and psychosomatic problems. The therapist outlines some of the technical issues involved in getting through to the psychosomatic levels in Luisa's internal world, and also those connected with the masochism that accompanied her genuine depression. Other countertransference issues are left open for discussion.
