BURGLARY SPECIALIZATION WITHIN A PAROLE COHORT: CRIMINAL LIFESTYLE OR MOONLIGHTING?

Pages 95-108 | Published online: 10 Jan 2012

ABSTRACT

In the past few years there has been a resurgence in violence specialization research. There is a paucity of literature pertaining to specialization in burglary. This research utilizes Wright and Decker's (1994) and Holzman ‘s (1982) research on burglary to generate questions on the relationship between burglary and specialization within a cohort of parolees. Findings suggest that there is small but substantial group of burglar specialists within the parole cohort. Logistic and Cox regression analyses are used.
