SYNERGISTIC EXTRACTION OF EUROPIUM WITH DIDODECYLMONOTHIOPHOSPHORIC ACID AND 1,10-PHENANTHROLINE

ABSTRACT

Extraction equilibrium of europium from acetate media with didodecyImonothiophosphoric acid (HR) and 1,10-phenanthroline (PHEN) in toluene diluent was measured at 303K. The equilibriua equation of this synergistic extraction system was found to be wri tten as follows.

Eu³⁺, + 3 HR_ore + PHEN_org ⇌ EuR₃ + 3 H⁺

The extraction equilibrium constant, K_{ex, ayn} = (2.0 ± 0.3) × 10² / mol was obtained according to this equation.
