Harold Joseph Highland, PhD, Emeritus Distinguished Professor of computer science at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, is managing director of Compulit, in Elmont N.Y. Compulit maintains an ongoing program of testing and evaluating software-based security products for microcomputers. Highland also is editor in chief of Computer & Security. He is the author of Protecting Your Microcomputer System, and he holds numerous appointments to international bodies dealing with various computer security issues.
