PC-Based Application Development: A Survival Plan for the MIS Manager

Pages 15-21 | Published online: 30 May 2007

Abstract

Efforts to reduce the application backlog have run amok. Productivity tools and end-user computing, which were supposed to solve the problem, have only fueled the fire by encouraging end users to overconsume computing resources. Consequently, many MIS departments are turning to automated, PC-based application development. This article discusses the benefits of application development on workstations and lists steps and tips for product selection and implementation.
