A Business Approach to Cracking the Applications Backlog

Pages 17-21 | Published online: 31 May 2007

Abstract

In an attempt to shrink applications backlogs, MIS managers have tried such systems-related strategies as prototyping, user-developed systems, and packaged software. This article takes a straightforward management approach to the backlog problem, in the belief that a backlog should be seen as a series of clues to underlying business problems rather than as a concrete set of defined projects.
