Ten Pitfalls of Information Center Implementation

Abstract

Because information centers represent a relatively new concept in computing services for most organizations, their implementation is often accompanied by many types of problems. This article describes 10 common pitfalls that information center planners may encounter and recommends ways to avoid them.

Gaile A. Swider is the senior client liaison for the Department of Information Systems at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia PA. She has also been involved in the development of end-user computing and the information center at Jefferson and has played a key role in marketing those services to clients. She holds a master of science degree in human relations and is currently pursuing a PhD in organizational behavior and administration.
