Economic Concentration in the Computer Industry: Should You Be Worried?

Abstract

As the computer industry matures, practitioners and observers have begun to focus on the issue of economic concentration. Although statistics on this phenomenon are relatively difficult to attain, the general trend toward concentration does not appear to be having significant effects on the industry's economy. This column explores the issue of computer industry concentration and its effect on the user community.
