Liability for Failed Software

Pages 47-53 | Published online: 13 Jul 2010

Abstract

In the modern world, two things inevitably touch the lives of almost everyone-computers and the law. Either is a formidable topic in its own right, but to individuals faced with legal questions about computer software, the combination might seem overwhelming. This article describes the legal nature of computer software and how it defines the relationships between vendors and purchasers. The article presents the vendor's and the purchaser's interests in their legal contexts and suggests negotiation techniques for each.
