Pages 64-70 | Published online: 13 Jul 2010

Abstract

The professional workstation is an application system that delivers unique functional capabilities to a new community of users: professionals. These users have the ability and the authority to make significant decisions that affect their organization, but they need a system that will provide information that will help them make these decisions wisely. This column examines such a system, the growing need for this system, and the type of organization that can benefit from it. It also focuses on the particular user interface required for professional workstations.
