Abstract

As microcomputers continue to reach more and more desktops at companies all over the US- 13 million machines by 1990 by some estimates – the question as to why these machines have become so popular is of interest to many researchers in the IS field. Understanding this PC popularity can assist in management of microcomputer use and development of microcomputer applications.

Sid L. Huff

Sid L Huff is an associate professor in the School of Business Administration, the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. He has business experience as a research engineer with Ontario Hydro, Toronto, and as a management consultant with Woods Gordon & Co. Toronto. He received a PhO in information systems from the Sloan School of Management, MIT.

Malcolm C. Munro

Malcolm C. Munro is a professor on the faculty of management at the University of Calgary, Alberta. Before completing his PhD in MIS at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, he worked for International Harvester Co, Lever Brothers Ltd. and Burns Foods Ltd.
