Strategic and Operational Issues for the Successful Information Center

Pages 15-22 | Published online: 14 Jun 2007

Abstract

Because information centers have evolved into information resource development centers, they should be a major part of an organization's information strategy. Therefore, MIS managers must carefully consider such strategic issues as aligning the information center with the organization's overall mission as well as such operational issues as conducting a study of user needs. This article discusses these and other issues and their importance to the successful initiation of an information center.
