Successful DSS Development with Traditional Tools and Techniques

Pages 46-55 | Published online: 14 Jun 2007

Abstract

Traditional tools and techniques have been considered inappropriate for the design and development of individualized decision support systems (DSSs) because these tools only apply to very simple situations and produce a basic model to support only one product. This is quite the opposite, however, with organizational DSSs, which support organizational decision making in complex environments. This article presents a case study of the successful development of a complex organizational decision support system using traditional IS tools, techniques, and personnel.
