Abstract

To successfully Launch an IS strategic planning initiative, IS managers must first consider several factors, in-i eluding previous planning efforts and the level of support from key executives. This column discusses how reviewing these important considerations can help position the IS strategic plan for success.

Robert A. Atkinson is executive vicepresident of Atkinson, Tremblay & Assoc Inc, an affiliate of AGS Information Services that concentrates on information systems planning, architecture, engineering, and development projects. Since founding the firm in 1979, Atkinson has maintained an active involvement in its consulting practice, working with major corporations and government organizations. particularly in the area of information systems master architecture and planning.
