The Third Wave: User as Producer

Abstract

Because users have come to depend so heavily on the information provided by their systems, they feel the need to better manage this information. As a result, they are beginning to take control of the development process, essentially becoming the producers of information processing, which could have certain implications for the traditional role of systems development.
