Pages 16-20 | Published online: 30 May 2007

Abstract

For more than a decade, data base management systems (DBMSs) have been proclaimed as the panacea for data integration and redundancy problems. Are organizations reaping the benefits of data base technology? What specific data resource management tasks have they failed to address effectively? A study of 276 organizations seeks to address these questions and to describe and diagnose the data resource management problems that corporations face today.
