DISTRIBUTED DATA BASE SYSTEMS Accessing Data More Efficiently

Abstract

As companies expand into new geographic locations, single-site data bases are almost universally recognized as being too slow in providing access to important information. Distributed data base management systems allow data to be divided among the locations that use it. Users' ability to effectively access that data depends on the vital link that ties remote data bases together— the company— s communications network
