SUMMARY
Self-report questionnaires returned by directors of hospice programs indicate the job involves numerous problems and stresses. However, burnout appears to be relatively low. Directors cite the challenge and flexibility of the job as reasons for remaining in the position. A majority of directors indicated they would continue to serve their programs indefinitely.
