Art Therapy's Sweet Spot Between Art, Anxiety, and the Flow Experience

Pages 54-55 | Published online: 30 May 2013

Abstract

The observation that the flow experience may be an active ingredient in art therapy’s efficacy, and its potential to relieve debilitative anxiety in particular, is the focus of this editorial. Recent research on the relationship between art and anxiety suggests that a whole range of art therapy experiences may foster health and well-being due to differences in how people respond to anxiety.
