Abstract

An 18-year-old individual with cerebral palsy has developed strategies of using her three modes of expressive communication. L. M. combines using her Minspeak, Etran, and often no aid to converse with a variety of individuals in her home and community. This paper discusses the relative effectiveness and efficiency of the three systems as evaluated during the prototype fitting of the Lainey System—a system of modular technology developed by the University of Tennessee Rehabilitation Engineering Program and the Prentke Romich Company.
