Abstract

The automatic recognition of unstable Morse code allows users to type text in Morse code with varying speeds. However, without individualized training and consistent daily use, a person with physical impairments may find it difficult to obtain a high recognition rate when using automatic recognition devices. For this reason, an interactive training approach implemented on a single-chip microcomputer with immediate visual and auditory feedback is proposed in this study. The training system was applied to an adolescent with cerebral palsy to improve his Morse code typing rate, stability, and recognition rate via daily practice. After 4 months of training, results from this study show that the participant's performance increased over time.
