Death education in coordinated programs in dietetics

Pages 445-449 | Received 02 Feb 1989, Published online: 14 Aug 2007

Abstract

Numerous studies have been conducted regarding death education offerings for health care professionals, but little research exists to prepare the student dietitian to work with the terminally ill and their grieving families. A one-page survey addressing this topic was mailed to coordinated dietetic programs throughout the United States. A 65% response rate acknowledged the importance of death education for dietitians.
