Assessment of small group discussions in a death-and-dying course

Pages 473-480 | Received 30 May 1990, Published online: 14 Aug 2007

Abstract

The use of group discussions in death-and-dying courses is a common technique to increase students' awareness of their feelings and of other students' perspectives. A structured small-group discussion format in which discussion is preceded by reading material and a written reaction paper is described. Evaluations indicate that students react favorably to this approach.
