Abstract
How to use computers with reading disabled students is discussed. In a vignette of a boy with reading disabilities, how and why computers should be used for reading development is demonstrated. Subsequently, a theoretical framework for employing computers in reading is presented as part of a discussion on the motivational effects of computers on students’ learning. After presenting guidelines for using computers in reading, the article offers a discussion of the software, hardware, and instructional setting factors to consider when using computers with reading disabled students.
