Social distance from people with disabilities in a city at war

Vulnerability to injury and increased exposure to disablement in a chronic war setting could result in more positive attitudes towards people with disabilities. This study, conducted on a representative sample of senior high school students in Beirut, showed that the only proximity that reduces negative attitudes to people with disabilities was that within a family setting. Disadvantaged groups were also noted to sympathize with people with disabilities.
